JO HOWELL PHOTOGRAPHY

FREQUENTLY ASKED PET QUESTIONS

Wedding days are fantastic! I absolutely thrive off the energy surrounding them. They are full of love, emotion, happiness, details, friends and families all coming together to make your day one you will never forget.

Your wedding photographs are the physical mementos of your wedding day and what you and your family will look back on for years to come. So it’s important that you choose the right photographer for you. Someone who matches your wants, needs style, budget and of course, personality.

My style is relaxed, candid and fun, with a bit of direction thrown in if required. I believe the best photos are taken when you are comfortable and enjoying yourself and I insist on meeting all couples before booking to make sure we are a good match.

When should we book?

"As early as you can. Especially if you are planning a destination or spring wedding. Most couples book 1 year in advance, of course it all depends on your dates. If available I will take on last minute bookings."

How much time do we need for photographs on our wedding day?

"As much as possible! (but I may be biased) I don’t have any limits on the number of shots taken so it’s in your best interest to give me as much time as you can manage. I also understand there is so much more happening on your day other than photography."

"We will sit down and work through the timings of your day together to come up with a timeline that allows you to have the photographic coverage you want and also allows you to enjoy your day and the people you are sharing it with. Your photography should be a fun addition, not a necessary evil ."

How many images do you take at a wedding?

"There are no limits to the amount of images I take during your chosen coverage. Generally you can expect 60-100 images per an hour of coverage. I take the time to capture, edit and present the collection of images that best tells the story of your wedding day."

Do you do video as well?

"No, I do not do video but I have worked with some great videographers and am happy to share their details on request."

Do you provide a second photographer?

"A second shooter is available on request. Although not essential they are a great addition to a wedding coverage allowing to different views at the same time. "

What do your packages include, and what do they cost?

"All packages include unlimited images taken during your chosen coverage time, high resolution digital negatives, an online highlights gallery, theatre viewing experience and of course, amazing photography."

What type of albums do you have?

"We offer a number of album options and sizes to suit your style and budget. All are individually designed and beautifully crafted to the highest of standards!"

Do I get the digital negatives?

"Your package includes the high res files of your all your images, first run edited. You can use these to print, share your photos with friends and family online via email and/or social media. They are yours forever."

The photos on the USB look too dark or too bright or the colours aren’t right.

"Every computer monitor is different. Unless your monitors have been calibrated with a professional level calibration tool, there will be variance to the photographs. The Studio cannot guarantee how your images will look in print if you choose to print additional products at a 3rd party printer. We do guarantee that all of the images in your album, or printed by us will be beautiful. If you do choose to print through a 3rd party, we suggest using a professional lab."

Do you travel outside of Melbourne for weddings?

"Yes, from interstate to international or just down the road, get in touch to discuss your specific needs."

What happens if you are sick on the day of our wedding?

"To date, this has never happened. That being said, sometimes things happen that are out of our control."

"As a member of the AIPP, I have a network of photographers that are friends and colleagues that I have worked with and would be able to call on to cover a wedding if needed."

What happens after the wedding?

"Most wedding photography work happens after the actual wedding day. We do all of our processing, editing and production in house to ensure quality. We will book in a date, approximately 3 weeks after your wedding, for your theatre viewing, album design (if required) and digital image collection. Artwork and albums take 4-6 weeks from order confirmation to delivery. Your online highlights gallery will also be accessible from this date for sharing with family and friends and the whole world if you like."

Are you a member of the AIPP (Australian Institute of Professional Photographers)?

"Yes. Being a member of the AIPP means that my work has been judged by industry peers to be of a professional standard. It also means that I am operating as a legitimate registered business with appropriate liability insurance. I recently had the honour of becoming an Associate member of the AIPP which is a reflection of consistently high level and award winning photography work over a number of years. The next step is Master Photography, wish me luck."
